If you are saying that you can connect to the WiFi from the Xfinity device and get an Internet connection.then the gateway has NOT been configured in Bridge Mode. Not having wifi has disrupted work for 2 of us and so using the Xfinity Gateway iFx (I think it's called) for now is working. The WAN port on the main AirPort is the correct port to use.IF.the "main" Airport is connected to a true modem.

It wanted to go to a WAN port not the ethernet one With luck, once the "main" AirPort is set up correctly to work with the "modem", you will not need to change any of the configuration settings on the second AirPort. Yes, there is a second Airport in the house so I do have a LAN. In true Bridge Mode, the gateway would not be producing a WiFi signal at all, since it would have been turned off as part of the Bridge Mode process.Īnother way to say the same thing.if you are able to connect to the WiFi from the modem/router or gateway and get an Internet connection for WiFi devices.the Xfinity device is NOT configured in true Bridge Mode, despite what the Xfinity folks might say. If it was, the WiFi service on the modem/router or gateway would NOT be working.( Remember, a true modem does not produce a WiFi signal at all).and you would not be able to connect WiFi devices to the gateway's WiFi signal and connect them to the Internet. Even if you did, there are different types of Bridge Mode, so there are still no guarantees that the modem/router or gateway was really set up in true Bridge Mode. This would be expected unless you first reset the "main" AirPort back to default settings and then set it up again. Yes, Xfinity set the modem to Bridge Mode and the Airport didn't work with it. I would still like to have the LAN to deliver all over my houseĪre you saying that you have more than one AirPort on your LAN?

Even if this is possible, I doubt that Xfinity will be very thrilled about the idea to reconfigure the modem/router or gateway they have provided to you.Įven if it is possible to set up the modem/router or gateway as a simple modem, and you have verified that things are working on the modem/router by connecting a computer directly to the modem using an Ethernet cable, the AirPort will still need to be reset to defaults and set up again. If you mean that you are trying to configure the new is a modem/router or gateway.to operate in Bridge Mode, then you will need to get with Xfinity support to find out if it is possible to configure the gateway to operate as a simple modem in Bridge Mode.not as modem/router or gateway. If Bridge Mode is required for the AirPort, the setup utility will automatically configure the AirPort in Bridge Mode during the setup process. Sorry, but we do not know whether this was on the new "modem" or was this on the AirPort? Either way, things are not going to work correctly until the AirPort is reset back to defaults and set up again. It will not receive the correct credentials from the new modem as things stand now. Trying to change the AirPort to Bridge Mode won't work. If you have simply connected the AirPort to the "new" modem, the AirPort is remembering the old settings and still looking for your "old" modem. The AirPort was originally programmed with settings to connect to your "old" modem or gateway. My Airport connected to the new modem from Xfinity with an ethernet cable is not routing the signal as it did with an earlier one. the AirPort will need to be reset using a Hard Reset or Factory Default Reset and then set up again from scratch. If you changed the modem.(which is really a gateway or modem/router). New Xfinity gateway modem not working with AirPort
